Stop Action
In the second shooting assignment for digital photography the class was tasked with taking pictures in a stop action format. This means that the photos taken have to capture motion from an object or person. This is achieved through using a higher shutter speed in order for the pictures to act like it is a stop in time, thus the title stop-motion. For this assignment Grant decided to focus his theme on water and its various types of movements. While shooting these photos in order for the light to be enough for the images to come out cleanly, Grant had to add his own sources of light in addition to the already present lighting. His favorite picture is the image of the blue food coloring entering the water. He thinks that since the image is black and white and the food coloring is blue it shows a good contrast between the water and the color that is entering. He also likes the close up image of the water being poured into the glass because you can see the entrance point of the water while all the bubbles being created from the water are frozen with detail.
